It’s been a while since I’ve seen anything from Tarak Barkawi… was starting to wonder. This piece is, as usual, excellent, obvious and futile, sprinkled liberally with historical facts and observations on how things really work. He thinks so clearly that most other columnists look stupid in comparison. What he is saying is patently obvious and yet I have not seen anyone else frame the matter so well. Ultimately he is preaching to the choir but at least someone comes out and says this shit. The truth that he conveys here should be completely self-evident to anyone who has ever been bullied (or been a bully) on a playground. There are threats, there are credible threats and then there’s just plain bullshit that comes along for the ride.
