WinCo: Low-Key, Low-Cost Grocer Called 'Walmart's Worst Nightmare' | TIME.com.
Even when the world is falling down around your ears there are still opportunities to profit by not sucking. You'd think the powers that be would've made this illegal by now but somehow not yet. I've never set foot in a WinCo grocery but several themes in this post sound like harbingers of the future: less insane levels of artificial "choice", shallower supply chains (dealing directly with farms and factories), less glitz, less money at the top, less centralization. Interesting.
It seems the revolution will be strictly from commercial. Who knew?
